Cellist Sujari Britt showed her prodigious talent and uncanny devotion to and understanding of music from a very early age. Now 81/2 years old, she began her study of the cello at age five, following her study of the violin, and the piano, both with her father.

Sujari’s talents on the cello were rewarded when she won first place in the 2008 annual Associated Music Teachers League, Inc. scholarship competition for her performance of J.S. Bach’s Cello Suite No 1 in G Major, Prelude. In November 2009, Sujari had the honor of performing with Alisa Weilerstein at the White House for President Obama and the First Lady and their distinguished guests. Originally planned to showcase Sujari in a student concert, Michelle Obama was so impressed with her, that she personally invited the young cellist to perform that evening for the President. Sujari has been named 2010 recipient of the Dianne Flagello Precollege Division Scholarship Endowment at the Manhattan School of Music where she studies with pedagogue Marion Feldman in addition to studying theory, ear training, and participating in orchestra.

In addition to her formal studies on the cello, Sujari is a member of a classical string trio with her sister, Joelle (violin;18yrs) and her brother, Sunnaj (violin;12yrs).

Sujari enjoys a rigorous academic program via home training, and expresses a variety of special talents and interests including music composition, sketching, writing, QinNa and painting!

Tickets for the performance are $35.00 General Admission, $45.00 or Preferred seating. Students up to the age of 18 are admitted free of charge. College and graduate students pay $5.00.
